This is Mo. He was abandoned at a veterinary hospital here in Indiana a few
years ago, for unknown reasons. He was an adorable cat, very sweet and not even
a year old yet! Someone adopted him, had him neutered and took him home to introduce
him to the rest of their cats. Things were looking good! Mo got along with the
other cats all right but soon we found out why he was abandoned. He was not using
his litterbox appropriately! He began urinating outside of the box, which lead the rest of the cats to
urinate in those same areas. Mo's new family found themselves in over their heads!
Mo came back to the hospital where he was originally abandoned and things didn't
look so good for him now. How was the staff going to find a good home for a cat
with a behavior problem?? Especially one like Mo's problem. So he went to live
with one of the Registered Veterinary Technicians that worked at the hospital.
She took him home to foster him and work on his litterbox problem. At this home
he lived with one other cat, also a neutered male that was around a year old.
This technician had her work cut out for her! Mo was confined to a bathroom with
a huge litterbox whenever he was not able to be directly supervised. After a
slow introduction the kitties were best friends. The two cats were even able to eat side by side. Mo gradually was left to roam his foster
home for longer times. He acted happy and relaxed and even napped with his "foster
brother" kitty. Mo had overcome his litterbox problem and found a new home all
at the same time. What a happy ending!
