Vet Tech of the Year
VIEW PAST WINNERS OF THE AWARD
Each year the Indiana Veterinary Technicians Association would like to honor a special Veterinary Technician at the Spring meeting. We are looking for that special veterinary technician who has gone "above and beyond" in order to promote and support the profession as well as to provide his or her community with public service.
Nominees must be currently Registered with the Indiana Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners and be members of the IVTA. At least 2 recommendation letters must accompany the nomination. These letters and the nomination should cite the nominees' accomplishments and qualifications for the nomination based on the criteria listed below.
Professional Activities
1. Membership in the IVTA
a. Years in active service in the profession
b. Offices held in professional organizations
2. Activities and Accomplishments
a. Participation in additional educational or community service programs related
to the veterinary technician career, i.e., a speaker for career days, humane
organizations and/or additional animal care or breed organizations.
b. Projects and activities which have promoted the veterinary technician
profession, veterinary practice, institution, or company.
c. Published materials and presentations
d. Certificates or awards from professional organizations.
Community Activities
1. Projects and activities which have benefited the community.
2. Certificates or awards received from the community.
Paperwork necessary for submitting a nomination:
I A cover sheet stating the nominees' name, address, phone , place of employment. It would be helpful if a summary of the nominees' accomplishment is also listed.
II Letters of Recommendation (A minimum of 2 are required). One letter should be from a veterinary professional supporting the individual on a basis of professional activities. The other should be from a community leader and should be in reference to the individual's community activities.
III Additional referral letters are welcomed but should accompany the original submission of the nomination. Suggested sources for additional letters include clients, peers, family members, community service personnel, etc.
